Valerie Vaughn MSN, CNM
Valerie was born in Cameroon, a country in West Africa and moved to the US in 2005 after completing a Highschool education with the specific purpose of pursuing a career in health care. Women’s health has always been a passion of hers, driven by her own family’s plight of multiple unexplained fetal demises, inability to conceived, and miscarriages. This drive was further strengthened when she noticed the discrepancy in maternal health for women of color and the lack of representation in providers for such mothers. Thus, increasing her desire to become a provider and help satisfy the shortage in representation for all mothers of color.
Her professional career started with a Bachelors in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University in 2011. Followed by 9 years as Labor and Delivery and surgical nurse at Parkland Health and Hospital systems an several community outreach programs. Parkland is where she first encountered and worked with Certified Nurse Midwives. She then completed a Masters Degree with a specialty in Midwifery at Texas Tech University and Health science Center in 2020 where she trained with midwives at Parkland Hospital and Lovers Lane Birth Center.
In her down time, Valerie enjoys spending time with her husband, and their 2 children doing anything from traveling overseas, camping, watching “Call The Midwife” and visit with family and friends. She feels truly blessed to have found a group of women who share her passion for women’s health.
